THE SETUP: One of six childhood friends. As a detective (Six Feet Under's Mathew St. Patrick) investigates, the trail takes him back 20 years to the friends' 1986 high school graduation.
THE TWIST: Each episode is a flashback to a pivotal point in a different year. The story advances year by year, week by week, until we learn whodunit. (The victim's identity will be revealed early on.)
THE BUZZ: "24 has proven you can play with the concept of time on TV to great success, and that's exciting and encouraging," says creator Jon Harmon Feldman of this intriguing blend of nostalgia, mystery and soap. If Reunion makes it to a second season, the format would stay the same but possibly with new characters.
WE SAY: The season's most unexpected, innovative guilty pleasure, Reunion invigorates the young-adult soap with an ingenious narrative hook juxtaposing past with present.
